Ready for spring

Spring is officially here according to the calendar and the weather has finally given the first glimmers of it as well. We were very thankful for the extra room in the shop this year so we could efficiently keep rolling on equipment maintenance and repairs right through the brutal winter. Jared has keep the truck moving almost the entire winter hauling grain, rock, and even road salt! We are just putting the last finishing touches on getting all of the equipment ready for spring field work. We hope to plant some beans again in early April but will see if we are given the opportunity. We look forward to running a new-to-us Hagie sprayer this coming year. Benefits over our previous sprayer include larger tank capacity to keep up with rising water volumes per acre, 60’/120′ boom for controlled traffic pattern matching the planter, even 50/50 weight balance with high flex tires to reduce soil compaction, over 6′ of ground clearance for the ability to spray fungicide on tasseled corn, and all-wheel-steering to minimize crop damage on headland turns. The pictures show some other projects that we slipped in when we could this winter: laying some tile, tearing down the old barn and hog lot, using the concrete to widen the lane, and even a little ice skating!
