Summer is flying by, and I wanted to give a quick update before fall. Recent heat and dryness has likely taken the top edge off of what looked like a fantastic crop. I’m optimistic that most fields will still be above average. With some rain this week and next, beans could be very good yet. We are getting things ready for harvest, including having Martin-Sullivan do some warranty updates on the combine, shown with the final drive off. We also bought a used anhydrous ammonia applicator and rebuilt it. Along with allowing us some additional flexibility and savings in application of nitrogen, we added extra coulters to cut up heavy bean straw and save making an additional tillage pass. Also, we said good-bye to Ben and his family as they are moving out of state. We are very grateful for his great help the past 4 years and wish him the best in his new endeavor. Thankfully, we just hired his replacement and are set for harvest. We are looking forward to working with Jared in the coming months and years!
